There is a story that appears in the Buddhist dance of Itozaki about a turtle that turned into an island after having carried a holy statue of Kannon of a Thousand Arms. The island is known today as "Gamejima," or Turtle Island. You can walk out to the island at low tide, which makes the island a popular fishing spot. It is also a spectacular place to watch the sun setting over the Sea of Japan.
