At the Urushi no Sato Center, you can see displays about the history of lacquerwork: the materials and the manufacturing processes. There are also displays of valuable lacquerware and decorative, lacquer-coated festival carts.
In the workshop, you can watch a traditional craftsman demonstrate the manufacturing process used in making Echizen lacquerware. You can also try out painting ceramics, decorating with gold in-lay, and applying lacquer, all performed under the supervision of the craftsman. Reservations required.
